Project Overview

Build, paint, and explore the story of Shavuot through hands-on engineering.

Kids will create their own wooden Har Sinai scene using laser-cut plywood pieces, then build a working pulley system to lift a mini bikkurim fruit basket — bringing the journey to Har Sinai and the mitzvah of bikkurim to life through building, motion, and creative design.

It’s part craft, part engineering challenge, and part Jewish learning experience — made to feel meaningful, creative, and fun for the holiday table.

A box that turns Shavuos into something they don’t just hear about…
but actually take part in.

Please note: These items are currently in the lab and still being finalized. Before your order ships, you will be sent a photo of the fully designed items so you can confirm that you still want to receive them.

Science Log

A basket full of fruit is cute.

A basket full of fruit that can travel upward because of a rope-and-wheel system? Much more impressive.

That’s what a pulley does. It takes your pulling force and sends it in a new direction, so when you pull the string, the basket rises. No tiny crane license required.

It’s a simple machine, but it makes the whole build feel alive — like your bikkurim basket has places to be.

Torah Sparks

While I was designing this kit, I realized the bikkurim basket should not just sit there looking cute. It needed a little drama. It needed to go up.

Because bikkurim is not just about fruit. It is about taking something regular — the first thing that grew — and saying, “This matters. I’m grateful for it. I want to use it for something higher.”

So in this project, you do not just place your basket down and move on with your life. You lift it.

Tiny basket. Big thank-you. Very Shavuot.

Builder's Tips

Laser-cut plywood pieces are kind of like puzzle pieces with tiny opinions.

If something does not slide in perfectly right away, do not force it. The edges can be a little snug because the laser burns away a tiny amount of wood and leaves crisp, slightly toasted sides.

Try gently wiggling the piece into place, checking that the slots are lined up, and sanding the tab just a little if it feels too tight.

A little patience now means your Har Sinai will stand stronger later.
